• Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your scheduled
appointment time:

1. Please bring your insurance card to your appointment
2. You will need to fill out paperwork prior to your exam
3. A nurse will collect a short medical history on you
(bringing a current list of your medications is helpful)

• For most procedures you will receive medications to help
you feel comfortable (Flexible Sigmoidoscopy does not
require sedation)

1. These medications may make you drowsy
2. You will not be able to drive for the rest of the day
(if medication is received)
3. An adult must accompany you home (this person is
required to sign a form before you are discharged)

• Your doctor will speak with you after your procedure

• A nurse will explain your discharge instructions (you
will be given instructions and any appropriate
educational materials)
